-Securing human resources in the age of globalization
There is a phenomenon of nurses moving across borders all over the world. It is well known that nurses migrate from developing countries to developed countries. However, little is known about nurses who migrate between developed countries.
We will address Japanese nurses who left Japan to work in other countries as ‘internationally migrated Japanese nurses’.
How many of those nurses in the world, and why are they crossing borders?
We focus on this ‘internationally migrated Japanese nurses’ and discuss about the future of nursing in Japan in terms of securing human resources in the age of globalization.
Reconsidering what we do in Japanese nursing:
from the experience of internationally migrated Japanese nurses
Many countries are preparing to regain their nurse workforces who have worked overseas.
That is because nursing is an occupation in which the individual life experiences largely influences the quality of care.
The attractive working environment for the migrated Japanese must be appealing for nurses working in Japan as well. We try to figure out the appealing point of Japanese nursing through the eyes of internationally migrated Japanese nurses.
